Frequently asked questions

Purchases

How do I get my books back on a new iPhone or iPad?

Sign in with the same Apple Account you used to buy them, open the app, and go to Settings > Purchases > Restore Purchases. A grown-up check appears first. Restore Purchases is also on any locked book's unlock screen.

What do books cost? Is there a subscription?

There's no subscription. 9 books are free. Any other book is a one-time purchase of $0.99, or you can unlock every book, including books we add later, for $9.99. Prices are in US dollars and may differ in other countries; the App Store always shows your local price.

Does Family Sharing work?

Yes. Every purchase supports Family Sharing, so everyone in your family group can use the books on their own devices. Each person may need to tap Restore Purchases once.

My child tapped buy and the app says "Waiting for approval".

That means Ask to Buy is on for your child's account. The family organizer gets a request on their device; once it's approved, the book unlocks automatically.

How do I ask for a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the purchase, and choose "Request a refund". If anything goes wrong, email us and we'll help however we can.

Why does the app ask me a math question?

That's the grown-up check. Purchases, restoring purchases, sharing, and links that leave the app ask a quick multiplication question so little ones can't do them by accident.

Books and downloads

A book won't download.

Unlocked books download the first time you open them. If you see "This book couldn't download", check your Wi-Fi or cellular connection, then tap Try Again. Make sure your device has some free storage (each book is about 8 MB). Restarting the app can help too.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. The free books come with the app, and other books work offline once they've downloaded. Coloring, saving, and printing never need the internet.

Will you add more books?

We will! New books show up in Recently Added on Home. Every Book purchases include them automatically.

Artwork

Where is my artwork saved? Is it backed up?

Your pictures are saved on your device as you color; there's no account or cloud copy. They're included in your device's regular iCloud or computer backup. Deleting the app deletes your pictures, so save favorites to Photos first.

I deleted a picture by mistake.

In My Gallery, open Recently Deleted. Pictures stay there for 30 days and can be restored with one tap.

How do I print or save a picture?

In My Gallery, touch and hold a picture and choose Export. Pick PNG, JPEG, or PDF, then Save to Photos, Print, or Share. See Save, share, and print.

Can I start a page over?

Yes. While coloring, tap the dots at the top and choose Start Over; the Undo arrow can bring it back if you change your mind. You can also touch and hold the picture in My Gallery and choose Start Over, or Duplicate it first to keep the original.

The app

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad running iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later. Apple Pencil and hardware keyboards are supported on iPad.

What languages is it in?

English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Dutch, and Indonesian. The app follows your device's language.

Miya talks too much (or not enough).

In Settings, turn Show Miya's Tips, Miya's Voice, Miya Animations, or Fewer Interruptions on or off. On the coloring screen, Ask Miya also has Hide tips and Show tips.

Miya's voice sounds robotic.

Miya speaks with the best voice installed on your device. Download a more natural one in the Settings app under Accessibility > Spoken Content > Voices: pick your language, then a voice marked Enhanced or Premium. Miya switches to it on her own. See Ask Miya for the steps.

My hand leaves marks when I use Apple Pencil.

Make sure Only Apple Pencil Draws is on in Settings. After you use Apple Pencil once, your fingers will move and zoom the page instead of drawing.

Is the app accessible?

Yes. VoiceOver can step through uncolored shapes and fill them with a double-tap, colors have spoken names, text follows Dynamic Type, and motion calms down with Reduce Motion. We'd love to hear how we can do better.

Does the app collect any data about my child?

No. There are no accounts, ads, or analytics, and nothing leaves your device. Read the full privacy policy.
